In this Sunday school course, we will study the nature of Scripture and what it means for the life of the Church. Beginning with the Bible’s own claims for itself, we will develop a doctrine of Scripture. We will also learn about the formation of the Bible and the transmission of the text through the ages.
Having learned what Scripture is, we will then lay a foundation for interpreting Scripture. Our primary aim is not merely to learn about Scripture. We want to learn how better to be transformed by God’s Word. Therefore, we will address basic hermeneutical (interpretive) principles as well as tools, resources, and methods for studying Scripture individually and within the community of faith.
